Between worlds

After barely being spared in a high-stakes blood ritual because of his innocence, the first thing Cross does is execute a surrendering kidnapper in cold blood.

‎Meanwhile, morning comes to the Leader, who promises a total nuclear offensive against the neighboring country for the brutal murder of his smart wife, locking down the country until the resolution is passed in parliament.

‎The rising state unrest and the ruthlessness of civil authorities force Cross back into the limelight. When a woman he cares about is harassed by the city council, his intervention exposes his location to both the police and Graham. When a police officer blackmails him for the guy he murdered, he teams up with his group of radically pragmatic friends to flee the city for somewhere safer, only to be trapped inside by a broken bridge leading to the neighboring county.

‎They seek temporary shelter in a club, but Sam, his friend and his late colleague's brother, makes things worse when he casually mutilates the owner for operating as a middle-woman for sex trafficking. They are again forced to flee the club amidst an approaching army patrol.

‎Realizing his recent actions have neutralized his ritual immunity and that Graham is fully aware of it, Cross knows his only guarantee of survival is finding Graham himself or tracking down Six, the missing ritual lord. But Graham has already invaded a hospital with a dark government history, possessing an extremely lethal bioweapon that liquefies skin from bone. With Six missing, Cross's survival depends entirely on who gets to him first.
